Braised Chicken Wings with Lemon and Coke

These Braised Chicken Wings with Lemon and Coke will soon be a family favourite! They are the perfect combination of sweet thanks to the Oyster sauce and coke, but balanced with the saltiness of the dark soy sauce. They're easy to make, and guaranteed to please, so why not give them a try!

Ingredients

500g chicken wings (mid joint and drumettes separated)
½ Tbsp vegetable oil
15g ginger, julienned
300g cola drink
1 spring onion, tied into a knot
1 Tbsp lemon juice

Method

1 Marinade the chicken wings for at least 2 hours or ideally overnight.
2 Remove chicken wings from marinade and set the marinade aside. Heat the oil in a wok over medium heat, add the ginger and sauté till fragrant.
3 Add chicken wings, browning them, about 3 minutes on each side.
4 Add the cola drink, the remaining marinade and spring onion, bring to a boil.
5 Cook till the sauce is reduced by half, then add lemon juice, mixing until the chicken wings are well coated with the sauce.
6 Discard the spring onion. Serve the chicken wings immediately.
