Mala Beef is popular in Sichuan cuisine. Ma la is a sauce that translates to 'numbing' and 'spicy' which is exactly what this dish provides. The dish is classicly spicy with tender strips of beef.
Heat a wok over a high heat and add Sesame Wok Oil. Add beef strips and brown for 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
Add the ginger and garlic to the wok and fry for 1 minute. Add Sauce Mix. Add the white onion and carrot. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add the beef back into the sauce and add the spring onions. Add Sesame Wok Oil and ground Sichuan peppercorn. Cook for a further 30 seconds then remove from the heat and serve. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
