Crispy Chilli Beef is a Chinese takeaway favourite. Its combination of crispy bite, and a spicy, sour, and syrupy sauce is popular among more western tastebuds, but it's safe to say this is certainly a Chinese cuisine classic.

Put the phone down, and make this "fakeaway" in your own kitchen, with our easy to follow recipe, made even easier with our high quality Lee Kum Kee products.

Ingredients

400g beef sirloin steak
1 Tbsp cornflour for coating
2 Tbsp  oil

Sauce Mix

5 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp  sugar
1 Tbsp  cooking wine
1 Tbsp  cornflour

Garnish

1 tsp white sesame seeds

Method

1 Cut the steak into thin strips and marinate them for 15-20 minutes.
2 Coat the strips with cornflour. Heat oil over medium heat and shallow-fry the beef strips. Remove the beef when the colour turns brown, then set aside.
3 Add the sauce mix in the pan and cook it for 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Add the beef strips, making sure that the sauce is coated on well.
4 Sprinkle the white sesame seeds before serving.

Tips

1 Chill the beef in the fridge beforehand to make it easier to slice.
